Thoughts From A Psychotherapist

What is this country’s obligations to our Veterans?

The other day I read Why Wounded Warriors Sleep in Dumpsters and was outraged. The government should not have to be sued to own up to their responsibility to our veterans.

The military sends soldiers to an unfamiliar country, where they are constantly at risk for dying, and gives them no support. It is a recipe for PTSD. Than by not treating the PTSD immediately, it elevates the risk for substance abuse problems, family issues, homelessness, and suicide. The VA itself reports that 20% of the 30,000 suicides in the US are committed by veterans. So it remains a mystery as to why the military brass isn’t taking aggressive action to support our soldiers and veterans. This should be a national outrage.
