About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a graduate of Rutgers University School of Social Work in New Jersey. For 10 years I practiced as a social worker in a variety of settings including a program for pregnant teens, a homeless shelter, and a supportive housing facility. As a social worker, I have the experience of actively helping clients to solve their problems. Since 2001 I have had a private practice first in San Francisco and since 2011 in Albany. in 2021 I returned to my East Coast roots and moved to PA where I am also licensed. I specialize in working with those suffering from anxiety and people who are transgender and non-binary identified. My pronouns are they/she. Cathy Hanville. LCSW

I have an interactive approach to therapy. When you meet with me I won’t just sit there quietly and occasionally ask how you feel about something, I will work with you on how to develop solutions to your problems. I will provide you with a safe and non-judgmental space from which you can look at your patterns and behaviors and set goals for your future. We will work collaboratively using your strengths to help you live the life you wish to live.  And if you meet with me you might get some bonus cat time. So I hope you like cats. Many of my clients enjoy the purr and consider it a bonus!
