I have to admit I am middle-aged. Well, I guess a bit more so than that but I call it middle-aged. One of the joys of that is poor sleep. Like many people, I have tried many different things from supplements to pillows. One thing I had not tried up until now was a weighted blanket. I was cynical about them. They claim to reduce anxiety and PTSD symptoms and improve sleep. That seemed a bit of a steep claim. Here is some information on how the blanket was invented and the science behind it.

So after a terrible night sleep, I decided to go for it. I did some research online and picked a blanket based on recommendations, natural fabrics, and the ability to machine wash it. Here is the blanket I picked. This amazon link is an affiliate link so if you buy this blanket I do get a small commission. However, the recommendation is purely mine.

So it took a few days but OMG this blanket changed my life. I know that seems exaggerated but when you don’t sleep well for a few weeks and that shifts it does feel life-changing. My biggest issue was that I was waking up in the middle of the night and then not being able to fall back asleep again. This has not happened since using the blanket. I also feel like I am sleeping more deeply and waking more rested.

Now after trying this blanket I, of course, recommended it to everyone. I had two friends try it. One person had the same success I did and another felt pinned under the heavy blanket and found it uncomfortable. However, another positive about this company is that they offer a 30-day guarantee. So the unhappy person was able to return their blanket (they donate the returns!).

So I know I sound like an infomercial. But as a therapist that specializes in anxiety and works a lot with people with PTSD and with sleep impairments, I feel like putting this information out there could help people.
